Improvisation
Improvisation is a central part of Chaffman's musical work. He performs original music created at the piano, uses improvisation to lead into written repertoire, and collaborates with musicians through spontaneous performance.
His recital at the Art of the Piano Festival in San Francisco paired a free improvisation with Scriabin's Fourth Sonata.
